The Ten Gods (十神)

The Friend, 比肩, is the same element and the same polarity as the Day Master. It is a peer, not a boss and not a child of the self. It backs you up, and it takes up the same room.

Rob Wealth, 劫财, is the same element as the Day Master and the opposite polarity. It is still a peer, with more appetite. It competes, charms, and spends the share that Direct Wealth would have kept. Only the chart places it.

The Eating God, 食神, is what the Day Master produces in the same polarity. It is output with an easy hand: food, craft, a calm idea. It is not the officer, and it is not the self. The chart names it.

The Hurting Officer, 伤官, is output in the opposite polarity from the Day Master. It is the brilliant, restless produce of the self. It questions the officer, which is why the old name says it wounds the post in life.

Direct Wealth, 正财, is the element the Day Master controls, in the opposite polarity. It is the steady store: wages, a budget, the thing you keep by showing up. It is not a windfall. The birth chart is what places it.

Indirect Wealth, 偏财, is the element the Day Master controls, in the same polarity. It is the moving store: a deal, a windfall, money that arrives because you were in the room. It is not the wage. The chart places it.

The Direct Officer, 正官, is the element that controls the Day Master, in the opposite polarity. It is the proper post: a rule, a title, a reputation you keep by staying inside the line. The birth chart is what places it.

Seven Killings, 七杀, is the element that controls the Day Master, in the same polarity. It is pressure with an edge: a crisis, a rival, a power that does not ask permission. It is still an officer, not a curse.

Direct Resource, 正印, is the element that produces the Day Master, in the opposite polarity. It is the proper support: a mothering force, a school, a document, a kindness that comes through a legitimate door. The birth chart places this stem.

Indirect Resource, 偏印, is the element that produces the Day Master, in the same polarity. It is the unofficial support: an odd teacher, a private study, an instinct that did not come with a certificate.
