Venus–Mars Synastry
Venus–Mars synastry is one person's attraction meeting the other's pursuit. Venus likes, spends, and wants to be wanted. Mars goes after, angers, and wants sex. The angle is calculated between two charts. It is not their own natal Venus–Mars aspect.

Both birth dates place the planets. Times matter when either planet sits near the edge of the orb, because a few hours can move Venus or Mars enough to weaken or erase the contact. One person's Venus on the other's Mars is not the same sentence as the reverse. This page covers both directions. Orbs widen by about a degree and a half when the Sun or Moon is one of the two planets. A wide orb is a weaker contact.
Conjunction
A Venus–Mars conjunction in synastry puts one person's taste on the other's drive. Liking and wanting arrive in the same minute, and the couple often feels that as chemistry before they have agreed what the chemistry is for. When Venus meets Mars, the Mars person feels pursued in a way that flatters the appetite: someone likes the way they go after things, including sex. The Venus person feels their style of affection has a body that answers. The reverse is hotter in a different room. Mars on Venus chases a particular taste. The Venus person can feel chosen and crowded, because desire has found the part of them that wants to be wanted, and it does not always knock. Spending picks up the same fusion. A gift, a trip, a night out can be how Mars spends Venus's idea of pleasure, or how Venus prices a pursuit Mars thought was only heat. The sign colors the pace. It does not create consent. A conjunction is close. It is not a promise that both people wanted the same speed. The hard part is saturation. There is little cool air between “I like you” and “I want you,” so a no can land as a rejection of the whole bond. Friends see the spark and miss the negotiation that never got a separate hour. Use the fusion for a courtship both people can name. Leave one evening where attraction is allowed to be ordinary, so the chase is not the only proof that the liking was real. The natal Venus–Mars aspect, if either person has one, is a private habit. This contact is what happens when that habit meets someone else's planet.
Square and opposition
The square and the opposition pull one person's liking away from the other's wanting. Desire and affection interrupt each other across two charts. Someone wants what the other finds clumsy, cheap, or too fast. Someone loves in a style the other experiences as a delay. Sex and care miss the same evening. Money becomes a fight with taste: the purchase that excites Mars is not the purchase Venus would have chosen, and both people feel the mismatch as a comment on them. The square is the jam inside the week. The friction is close, repetitive, and hard to blame on a single bad day. They pick at the bond and call the itch chemistry. The opposition needs the distance of a table. One person lives the Venus role, the other is cast as the Mars who will not be tamed, or the reverse, and the relationship keeps hiring that play. The square irritates until a pace is chosen. The opposition keeps producing an other who carries the missing half. Neither aspect means the pair cannot want each other. Both mean wanting and liking do not arrive as one gift between these two charts. The useful version says which planet is speaking before the body acts. The costly version treats every attraction as a contest and every contest as proof of love. A partner is not required to play the planet they do not have in that moment. The contact gets clearer when that is said in the room, including which direction is actually live: Venus on Mars, Mars on Venus, or both.
Sextile and trine
The sextile and the trine give liking and wanting a route that does not require a fight to feel alive. One person's taste can meet the other's pursuit and both people recognize the meeting. Flirtation has a style. Sex can be direct without humiliating the person who wanted to be liked first. Spending can be a shared pleasure instead of a verdict. The sextile is the skill the couple still has to use. The angle is a door. A clean ask, a time that works, a compliment that is also a move: these open it. Left unused, the sextile looks like a pleasant pair with no Venus–Mars story, which is a waste if the spark was the reason they noticed each other. The trine is the same ease arriving without the bother. Chemistry feels like weather. They expect desire and affection to agree, and they are surprised when a later week, or a third person, does not work that way. The trine differs from the sextile because the gift does not ask to be practiced. It can be taken for granted, or spent on a heat that was only easy. Ease is the gift between these two charts. It fails when it is mistaken for a promise that every future bond will feel this simple, or that this bond never has to make an effort. Practice the sextile on purpose once, on a day that did not start easy, so the trine is not the only way these two people know how to want each other.

The angle is calculated from both birth dates, times, and places. A Sun sign does not name it.
